Feb 9, 2025 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) joins the people of Namibia, Africa and the world in mourning the passing of His Excellency, President Sam Nujoma, the Founding Father of Namibia and its first democratically elected President.

The IFP extends its deepest condolences to the Nujoma family, the Namibian government, and the people of Namibia on this profound loss of one of Africa’s greatest sons.

President Nujoma, a freedom fighter, was a towering figure in the struggle for liberation and a steadfast advocate for Africa’s independence, self-determination, justice, and African unity.

President Nujoma dedicated his life to the liberation of Namibia from apartheid South Africa, leading his country to independence in 1990.

His was a life of resilience, vision, and courage which laid the foundations for a democratic Namibia and inspired many across the continent who shared his life’s mission for freedom from oppression.

As we bid farewell to this iconic statesman, we celebrate his enduring legacy. His contributions to Namibia and Africa will continue to serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for generations to come.

Uwile umuthi omkhulu!

May his soul rest in peace.
