Jozini Acting Municipal Manager Ran Away From Councillors

Sep 8, 2016 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party is perturbed by the nonsensical behaviour of the Acting Municipal Manager at Jozini Municipality, Mr SW Zondo for running away from councillors who were attending a meeting.

“We were supposed to hold a meeting today but were then told by the Acting Municipal Manager that the meeting has been postponed till further notice. After receiving that information the IFP, DA and EFF councillors went to seek clarity from the Acting Municipal Manager about the reason behind the postponement of the meeting. He told us that after the ANC councillors had complained to COGTA, COGTA gave an instruction that the meeting should be postponed. We then requested him to explain that to all councillors, but he chose to run away and he is nowhere to be found,” said IFP MPL in Jozini, Mrs Thembeni KaMadlopha-Mthethwa.

“We find it difficult to understand why the ANC councillors are reporting to COGTA instead of reporting to the Acting municipal manager. It is clear that the ANC councillors are reporting to their political bosses and getting directives to frustrate the legitimate process of inaugurating the council. This is totally outrageous because the meeting should have taken place instead of it being postponed at the eleventh hour. We demand answers as to why the acting municipal manager ran away,” continued Mrs Madlopha-Mthethwa.

“It’s high time now for the issue of Jozini to be resolved with high integrity. This situation is delaying the provision of services to the people. Because the ANC failed to provide people with services, they have voted for other parties. Now the ANC is still continuing to hold Jozini people to ransom so that it can continue to punish the residents. The ANC must play the ball not the man. This shows that they only care about their stomachs not about people who are suffering under their leadership. Jozini residents must refrain from voting for the ANC in the future because now it has punished them severely by not allowing the process of inaugurating the council,” concluded Mrs Madlopha-Mthethwa.
