Note to Editors: The following remarks were delivered today by IFP KZN Premier Candidate, Velenkosini Hlabisa He addressed a rally following a door to door visit to residents in Eshowe living in informal settlements.
Comrades,
Today we commemorate 25 years of broken promises, today we say to you that under the ANC you are not as free as you should be.
The fight for social and economic justice for all our people, particularly in KZN continues.
I had just witnessed and engaged with many residents, young and old living in Gezinsila and Kwa Khoza.
Their stories and their daily plight in seeking economic justice makes me want to fight even harder to ensure that our government works.
To ensure that our government cares, to ensure they deliver and to ensure they do not take this day, Freedom Day, for granted.
We might be free in a political sense, yet we are not free in our pockets.
We are not free to make decisions about our lives and our futures because we hamstrung by an ANC government who have lined their own pockets out greed, out of selfishness and out of spite – they have taken from all of us, and today we are sending a strong message in saying take no more, ANC, you have taken enough.
One third of your money is stolen through corruption and taken away from service delivery each and every year.
Comrades, so today there is nothing to celebrate, we can only celebrate when our lives have improved, when our economy has grown, when violence is no longer the order of the day, when women and children and vulnerable groups are protected, when our hard-won freedom enshrined in our constitution is upheld.
The ANC has collapsed the education system, they have trashed our economy to junk status, they have pushed away investment, they have overseen a failing health system which too is near collapse.
They have shown their backs towards upholding the law, they have been the enemy of progress for our traditional leadership, they cannot get our province to work, they cannot run this government any longer.
In order for us all to finally achieve true freedom and prosperity and progress, there is only one political party which has the experience, the expertise, the values you share and the quality of leaders which care, who have integrity, leaders you can trust.
Comrades, to be free comes with a great responsibility, you have that responsibility in less than 10 days from now, we all will go to the polls to cast our vote.
Make an informed decision, choose quality over quantity, choose integrity, choose honesty and choose the IFP.
