KZN Premier Must Take Urgent Decisive Action Against the ANCWL

Feb 25, 2015 | Press Releases

The IFP in KwaZulu-Natal calls on the KZN Premier, Senzo Mchunu to show bold leadership without fear or favour by taking drastic action against some lawless members of the ANC Women’s League, who wore their political attire during the prayer service organised by the Office of the Premier in Ladysmith yesterday.

“The Premier’s Office issued a warning banning any community members from wearing their political attire during the prayer service, but members of the ANCWL did not listen to the Premier who is also the ANC Provincial Chairman, and wore their political attire. This shows that the ANCWL does not listen to their leaders and they disobey the mandate from their party. We demand that the Premier must take action against them, failure to do that will prove that this was orchestrated by the Premier himself,” said IFP Leader in the KZN Legislature, Mr Blessed Gwala, MPL.

“We are aware that if it was IFP supporters who came to the service wearing their political attire, the ANC would have made it a big issue to the point of ordering our members out of the venue. Being a Party that upholds discipline and decorum, we as the IFP, did not make it an issue at the venue but have to raise our concerns with the Premier. Such behaviour by the ANCWL must be condemned in the possible strongest terms,” continued Mr Gwala.

“If the Premier fails to take action against the ANCWL this time, in the future we will be compelled to organise our members and have them attend these events dressed in our Party political attire. We cannot allow the ANCWL to do whatever they like because they know that their ANC leaders will not discipline them, and to turn a government event that is paid for by the tax payer into an ANC rally,” concluded Mr Gwala.
