The IFP in KwaZulu-Natal has raised its concerns about the lack of communication from the ANC in informing other political parties about the memorial service of the former KZN MEC and Member of the Legislature, the late Mtholephi Mthimkhulu.
“I was shocked when I got a phone call from the Office of the Premier today requesting a representative from the IFP to deliver a speech in the memorial service taking place today in Durban. We were not informed in advance about the details of the memorial service. Upon querying the short notice, the answer I got is that text messages were sent to inform the MPLs about the details of the memorial service. We never received any text message and it is highly insulting and improper that Members of the Legislature are informed via text messages for a memorial service of another Member. We are not amazed about this because this is how the ANC operates when it comes to working together with opposition parties,” said IFP Leader in the KZN Legislature, Mr Blessed Gwala, MPL.
“The ANC does this because they have neglected Mtholephi Mthimkhulu for a long time. They demoted him from being an MEC to being an ordinary Member just because he was neutralising the divisions in the ANC. Now they are praising him that he was a good leader although their behaviour is totally different to what they are saying. Some ANC leaders failed even to visit him during his long stay in hospital but now they are the ones who bring flowers to his family,” continued Mr Gwala.
“We were not even certain that Mtholephi Mthimkhulu will get a proper memorial service due to the fact that the ANC proved that it doesn’t like him,” concluded Mr Gwala.
