The IFP is unimpressed with the lack of intervention and leadership shown by the KZN Department of Education in releasing the 2014 matric certificates for learners who were accused, but not found guilty of cheating during last year’s final examinations.
“This is unacceptable, they have studied and this is what they get for it. It is patently unfair and honest learners don’t deserve this. Parents regularly ask them about their certificates and they have nothing to say purely because the department is dragging its feet to release their certificates. We want to know what happened to those officials who were also accused in this matter? Are they still working? Why are the learners the only ones taking the blame?
The leaders of SA’s education – just like other leaders in corporate SA -should be held accountable for what occurs in their departments. Leaders in all organisations face the music when things go wrong. The MEC must account for this delay,” said IFP Spokesperson on Education, Mrs Thembeni Madlopha-Mthethwa MPL.
“The IFP demands that the KZN MEC for Education, Peggy Nkonyeni, must show bold leadership by ensuring that these certificates are released urgently,” concluded Mrs Madlopha-Mthethwa.
