MECs Neglect People Of Jozini To Play Politics

Nov 7, 2015 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party expresses its disquiet at ANC MECs who are neglecting the plight of the people of Jozini who are suffering without water while the MECs prioritise the ANC provincial conference.

“The people of Jozini are suffering on so many levels apart from water. Community life has been disrupted as roads have been barricaded by people protesting the lack of water supply. As a result children cannot go to school, those who are ill cannot reach the hospital or the clinics and people cannot go to work. Even the justice system has been affected because people could not reach the courts and prisoners could not be transported to the court. While the people suffer, the line-function MECs responsible for service delivery are sitting in comfort in Pietermaritzburg”, said IFP Leader in the KZN Legislature, Hon Blessed Gwala MPL

“If these MECs took their work seriously and if they truly care for the people of our province like they claim, they should be in Jozini to address the people and bring relief to them. The IFP calls on Premier Mchunu to show responsible leadership and instruct the MECs to go to Jozini and face the people rather than worrying about his own political fortunes. The lives and well-being of our people must take precedence over political positions and personal advancement of politicians”, concluded Hon Gwala.
