The IFP in KZN welcomes the outstanding results of Mthonjaneni Municipality’s by-elections, held on 31 August 2022. This victory follows two other by-elections victories in Mvoti and Mfolozi Municipalities.
As the IFP Provincial Executive Committee, we wish to congratulate King Cetshwayo District and Mthonjaneni Constituency Leadership on this victory. The increase from 58.05% received in the 2021 LGE, to 63% in the by-election, reiterates the trust our communities have in the IFP; this, as the result of the hard work of the IFP Founder and President Emeritus, His Excellency Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
We further send our gratitude to voters of Ward 12, who placed their trust in the IFP and wish to commit that the IFP will continue to bring quality service delivery – despite limited resources – to our communities. We will continue to be inspired by the principles and foundations laid by the IFP Founder and President Emeritus, His Excellency Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi. As we make this commitment, we will not be distracted by those who are spreading fabricated information about IFP-led municipalities. These are just bitter attempts to discredit the good work done by IFP in KwaZulu-Natal. The PEC will continue to provide necessary support to IFP-led municipalities, to ensure implementation of the IFP’s ten-point plan Manifesto.
The victory of the IFP in recent by-elections must be celebrated through improved service delivery in wards and municipalities where we govern. We therefore call upon our Councillors to be reminded of the pledge they signed with the IFP to serve the people.
