Officials Should Not Seek To Intefere In Politics

Oct 6, 2015 | Press Releases

The IFP calls on the officials that they should not seek to intefere with politics when political parties are raising they concerns about issues affecting ordinary citizens.

“We noted the comments made by Kwanele Ncalane, the KZN Spokesperson on Transport on the issue concerning Ezinqoleni Mayor, Makhosezwe Mpisi who knocked down and killed pedestrian Sifiso Mqadi (43) last week while driving his mayoral SUV on the N2 near Harding where he accused us of playing cheap politics in this matter. Therefore we wish to advise him that as government official he should not be involving himself in matters of politics,” said IFP Leader in the KZN Legislature, Mr Blessed Gwala, MPL.

“The comments that we raised had nothing to do with politics but with the rule of law and the welfare of Mqadi’s family and friends. We would like to see that those affected by this tragedy receive closure and this can only be achieved if the law will be allowed to take its cause without political intereference in view of the fact that the mayor is an ANC appointee,” continued Mr Gwala.

“No one should be protected from the repurcusions of their actions because of their political affilliation or positions that they occupy. Ordinary citizens would like to see justice being done irrespective of whoever is involved in such cases. Ncalane would’nt feel happy if it was a member of his family that was killed and justice looks the other way. All we ask for is that the justice must been seen to be done,” added Mr Gwala.

“I have raised this matter with political office bearears in the legislature and if Ncalane wants to engage with me in equal terms he must become a member of the legislature,” concluded Mr Gwala.
