Today the IFP family gathered in Durban to mourn the loss of Mr Ken Worthington, the Party’s long-serving Finance Manager. Mr Worthington passed away unexpectedly following a heart operation on Thursday 19 January.
In a memorial service this afternoon, IFP President Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi extended the Party’s support to Mr Worthington’s wife and children, to his colleagues and many friends.
In Prince Buthelezi’s words, “Over the course of twenty three years, this Party became the fulcrum of Mr Worthington’s life. To say that he was committed is an understatement… He worked because he loved the Party and the people in it…. We have suffered an organisational loss, but also a loss to our store of friends.”
Mr Ken Worthington will be remembered as a man of integrity, intelligence and kindness. Although he worked in the two most difficult arenas of finance and politics, he maintained his compassionate nature. He cared about those he worked with, and those whom he served through the IFP.
Today the Party honours a true servant of the people.
