President Zuma’s Personal Architect Must Be Allowed To Speak

Jul 8, 2015 | Press Releases

The IFP calls on the State to provide assurances that President Jacob Zuma’s private architect, Minenhle Makhanya be allowed to speak and clear his name in Nkandla scandal without fear of prosecution.

“Mr Makhanya publicly disclosed on tv programme that he wishes to clear his name. The SIU must allow him to speak as it’s now very clear that he has material information on this matter. By not allowing him the opportunity to speak the government is denying South Africans their right to know further details concerning the Nkandla debacle,” said IFP Spokesperson on Public Works, Mr Petros Sithole, MP.

“We are aware that Makhanya is terrified of being charged if he speaks out, and wants to be granted immunity from prosecution so that he can fully answer the case made against him. Makhanya must be allowed to give his side of the story. He must not be silenced just because the matter involves certain leaders,” concluded Mr Sithole.

The IFP will pursue this matter in Parliament by further questioning the Minister of Public Works, Thulas Nxesi and the Minister of Police, Nkosinathi Nhleko.
