Resolutions of the Meeting of the IFP Extended National Council

Empangeni, City of Umhlathuze: Saturday, 10 August 2024

The IFP National Council is the highest decision-making body of the IFP in-between conferences. Routinely, it invites IFP PEC’s, District Executive Committees, Constituency Executive Committees and all Public Representatives to a consultative meeting dubbed the “Extended National Council.”

The IFP Extended National Council, at its meeting on Saturday, 10 August 2024 in Empangeni in the City of Umhlathuze having deliberated, resolved as follows:

2024 NATIONAL & PROVINCIAL ELECTIONS:

The Extended NC was briefed on the results and outcomes of the 2024 National & Provincial Elections, and resolved as follows:

  1. Noted with satisfaction and gratitude that the IFP continued its upward electoral trajectory since 2016 Local Government Elections.
  2. Accepted the 2024 National & Provincial Elections as free and fair, and encouraged the IEC to continuously improve and enhance its operations.
  3. Endorsed the decision of the NEC and National Council to sign the IFP to the Statement of Intent (SOI), which has birthed the Government of National Unity.
  4. Welcomed the IFP’s participation in the GNU and GPUs in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.
  5. Directed that the IFP must not lose its identity in the GNU and must aggressively pursue IFP policies and the 2024 Manifesto in the GNU’s Basic Minimum Programme of Priorities, as espoused in the Medium-Term Development Plan the 7th Administration.

IFP GOLDEN JUBILEE: 21 MARCH 2025

The Extended NC noting that the IFP founded on 21 March 1975 was briefed on preparations of the IFP Golden Jubilee 2025: 50 Years of Selfless, Patriotic and Dedicated Service To South Africa, and resolved as follows:

  1. Welcomed the briefing on the preparations for the IFP’s Golden Jubilee in 2025.
  2. Commits to the IFP’s growth and sustainability into the next 50 years and beyond.

IFP STRUCTURES AND CONFERENCES:

The Extended NC noting the IFP Conferences are due as per the IFP Constitution resolved as follows:

  1. Noted that the internal party activities including the inauguration of branches were suspended to focus on the campaign.
  2. Directed that the NEC and National Council develop and finalise, by end of August 2024, the IFP Conference Roadmap in preparation for all conferences.
  3. Endorsed the proposal for the audit process of all inaugurated branches.
  4. Noting that branches are the basic unit of Party mobilization, directed that membership drive and branch inauguration is a continuous Party activity.
  5. Called on the IFP National Campaign Committee (NCC) to give support to the IFP structures in reviewing IFP electoral performance to effect proactive and reactive corrective action to improve Party mobilization.
  6. Directed that the IFP National Campaign Committee (NCC) to finalise the IFP Campaign Programme for 2026 Local Government Elections.
  7. Endorsed the assessment and review the IFP performance in terms of service delivery in all IFP governed municipalities by November 2024.

GENERAL:

  1. The Extended NC expressed its appreciation to the IFP President Hon. Velenkosini Hlabisa MP, for the comprehensive Political Report delivered at the meeting of the Extended NC.
  2. Further expressed its appreciation to the President for leading a strong and impactful campaign during the election period.
  3. Congratulated the NEC for its unity of purpose and dedication during the campaign period.
  4. Congratulated the National Campaign Committee and the Daily Management Committee for the seamless planning, coordination and implementation of the IFP campaign strategy.
