The South African Democratic Students Movement has voiced it great concern over the difficulties its members are facing at the Mangosuthu University of Technology after some of the university employees went on strike.
“As a student movement we are worried about our education as the university has cancelled our classes including the supplement exams. We are also concerned because students have been told to vacate their residences and they have nowhere to go. The staff at the university are also on strike due to salary issues and buses have even stopped collecting students to and from their residence,” said the student representative in MUT, Dalinhlanhla Buthelezi.
“SADESMO demands that the management at the university seeks swift solutions to the problems that are impeding our education. We need these issues to be resolved immediately so that we do not lose out any more. Finally we are calling on the University management to ensure that the ethos of education is restored at this institution. As young people we cannot afford to put our future in danger,” concluded Dalinhlanhla Buthelezi.
