SAPS Ministry Personnel Vetting A Disgrace

Aug 31, 2016 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party is shocked by recent revelations that the Chief of Staff in the Ministry, Mr Leon Abednigo Mbangwa, is a convicted fraudster.

IFP spokesperson on Police, Mr Albert Mncwango, MP, said ,”I am shocked and appalled that this individual managed to secure employment in such a sensitive and high profile police environment without the issue of his past criminal record coming to light,”

“Whilst the IFP is in no way against rehabilitated offenders being employed, we are extremely concerned at the paucity of the SAPS screening processes that allowed such past criminal activity to go undetected, as it is surely undesirable for a high profile position of this nature”

“The IFP will be following this matter up through the relevant parliamentary channels,” concluded Mncwango MP.
