Striking SOEs & Unions must reach swift agreements

The IFP supports workers’ demands and their rights to take to peaceful strike action.

This comes as thousands of workers at the Post Office and Telkom went on strike last week and thousands of others at the state owned entity (SOE) Eskom.

It is in the national interest that workers who seek relief from the economic woes our country currently faces are heard and that their demands are met.

The economic situation is dire, brought on by the clear lack of economic policy by the ANC government and the ever increasing cost of corruption.

It is simply unfair that millions of South Africans are servicing the debt of the corrupt ANC government and their cronies, whilst the rest suffer and the few enjoy lavish living.

With the increases in VAT and Fuel, more and more South Africans find it incredibly difficult to make means for living.

The IFP will continue to keep the ANC government accountable. We await the tabling of our debate in Parliament on suspending fuel levies.

We hope that the current situation at the Post Office does not affect SASSA grant recipients from receiving their payments and that Eskom continues to keep the lights on.
