The IFP Salutes the Fallen Heroes of the South African Defence Force

Jan 31, 2025 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) is deeply saddened by the loss of 13 brave soldiers who tragically lost their lives in the Democratic Republic of Congo. We extend our heartfelt condolences to their families, loved ones, and the entire South African Defence Force (SANDF) Military.

We honor the memory of these selfless heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of peace and stability in the Eastern Region of Congo.

The IFP acknowledges the critical role that the SANDF plays in maintaining peace and stability, not only in South Africa but also in the region. We salute the SANDF for their commitment to protecting our nation and promoting peace and security in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The recent escalation of tensions and violence is cause for serious concern and the provocative war-baiting rhetoric of recent days is totally unacceptable, and the IFP condemns it in the strongest possible terms.

The IFP calls for peace and for a return to the negotiation table for the purposes of finding last peace and pursue development for the people.

Every effort must be made to silence the guns. The DRC-Rwanda-M23 Conflict is a major setback for regional and continental peace, stability and development. Only those who don’t wish Africa well stand to benefit from this protracted conflict.

Our fallen patriots must be honoured through a commitment and action towards peace.
