The IFP Warns Against Spread of False Rumours about uMthwalume Serial Killer

Aug 19, 2020 | Press Releases

The IFP in Ugu Municipality has warned against the spread of false rumours in uMthwalume following the killing of several women, which has triggered panic buttons in this community.

According to IFP Ugu Municipality District Spokesperson, Mr Sfundo Ngwane, he has been flooded with calls from both media and concerned community members, questioning the alleged discovery of yet another body in a sugar plantation in the uMnafu area. This has prompted the local community to converge on sugar cane plantations in this area, in order to witness the incident.

“We send a stern warning to the perpetrators to stop spreading lies, which have left   the community gripped with fear. The IFP is closely monitoring the proceedings of the case and we will update the community if the need arises. For now, let’s allow the law to take its course. We don’t want to jeopardise the investigation of this sensitive case,” warned Ngwane.
