A WORD OF SUPPORT

My brothers and sisters in Christ; what a privilege it is to join so many Believers as we pray for our nation. I want to thank you for responding to the call, for coming here and spending time on your knees for South Africa. This is our beloved country. It is our home, and it is under siege.
Having served my country for more than 60 years as a leader, an activist and a Christian, it breaks my heart to see the depth of suffering still ensured by so many. The iron fist of poverty has closed around families and the weight of injustice lies heavy. Violence and criminality stalk communities, and the leadership that should protect has abdicated, preferring enrichment and power.
We are like a city surrounded. We are, indeed, like the city of Dothan, where the prophet Elisha slept as a great army surrounded the city with chariots and horses. We read in 2 Kings Chapter 6 that when Elisha’s servant awoke and saw what faced them, he cried out in despair.
But Elisha said, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then he prayed that the Lord would open his servant’s eyes to see in the Spirit, and he saw that beyond the enemy, the mighty army of the Lord was arrayed in fire.
So today we lift our voices to the Lord and we ask for eyes of the Spirit. Let us see, Lord, what You see. Show us that there are more with us, than against us; that the tidal wave of faith, truth and justice that is rising through prayer is able to wash away every plan forged in darkness.
We remind ourselves that He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. For we need courage, Lord, to stand in these troubled times.
Strengthen us to keep standing, to keep praying, to keep doing what is right. Help us to watch and pray; not to look for troubles to lament, but to look for what You are doing, so that we can align ourselves with You, becoming vessels of Your will for our nation.
We pray this in the everlasting name of Christ Jesus, Conqueror and King.
Friends, one month ago the fields where we are now sitting were consumed by flames. They were burned in preparation for this event, so that fresh green grass would sprout. I want to encourage you when you see a fire in your life, in your family, in your community; I encourage you to watch and pray. See what the Lord is doing, for surely green grass will sprout even from the ashes. He is the Lord who makes everything new.
So too from the fire of our repentance, a fresh start will come.
