The Mayor of the Zululand District Municipality has welcomed the call by the KZN MEC for COGTA, for him to be investigated.
“l have never interfered with or participated in any tender processes at the municipality, ” said Mayor Buthelezi.
On the 18th of April 2018 a group of NFP-aligned tenderpreneurs stormed a tender briefing session at ZDM, and threatened the municipality’s consultants and staff. This group demanded tenders and disrupted the normal business of the municipality, ” continued Mayor Buthelezi.
“Accompanied by 2 councillors and members of SAPS and municipal security personnel, I then proceeded to confront these tenderpreneuers with the aim of restoring order and protecting the municipality’s staff and consultants, ” concluded Mayor Buthelezi
“I therefore welcome the investigation against me as it will expose this sham for what it really is – a ploy by the ANC to destabilize the IFP-led Zululand District Municipality, ” said Mayor Buthelezi.
